origin story

The Nike LD Waffle Sacai Undercover Night Maroon Team Royal is the result of a unique collaboration between sportswear manufacturer Nike, fashion label Sacai and streetwear label Undercover.

The idea for the shoe came about when designers Chitose Abe from Sacai and Jun Takahashi from Undercover were working on a collaborative collection based on the theme of "speed". Both designers had previously worked with Nike and decided to use Nike sneakers for this collection as well.

For the collaboration with Nike, Abe and Takahashi decided to take the classic Nike LDV (Waffle Trainer) as a starting point and combine it with the modern Nike Waffle Racer sole. The result was a completely new and unique sneaker that immediately caught the eye with its double details such as tongues, laces and midsoles.
