The Nike Air Max 1 Patta Waves Rush Maroon is a Patta-designed version of the classic Nike Air Max 1. Patta is a Dutch streetwear and sneaker brand founded in 2004 by Edson Sabajo and Guillaume "Gee" Schmidt. The brand has an excellent reputation in the sneaker scene and is known for its creative and unconventional designs.
The collaboration between Patta and Nike started in 2007 when Patta designed a version of the Nike Air Max 1. Since then they have launched several successful collaborations. Released in 2020, the Air Max 1 Patta Waves Rush Maroon is part of the "Waves" collection, which also includes the Air Max 90 Patta Waves.
Inspired by the sea, the Air Max 1 Patta Waves Rush Maroon features a wave pattern on the upper in different tones of blue and pink. The shoe is made of suede, nylon and mesh and features a white midsole with a visible Air unit in the heel area. The outsole is rubberized for added traction and durability. The shoe comes with a matching strap, also printed with the wave pattern.
The Air Max 1 Patta Waves Rush Maroon design pays homage to the Dutch surf and skate scene. Inspired by the sand dunes of the Dutch coast, the wave pattern on the upper is reminiscent of the sea and the beach. The color combination of blue, pink and brown is another reference to nature and the beach. The bracelet that comes with the shoe is a nice addition to the design and helps make the shoe unique and special.
