Wir schreiben die Zeit 1986, His Airness hatte sich gerade im Jordan 2 den Knöchel gebrochen und war so enttäuscht darüber dass er beschlossen hatte Nike den Rücken zu kehren und zu Adidas zu wechseln. Quasi über Nacht musste damals der junge Tinker Hatfield einen Schuh entwerfen der Jordan von seinem Weggang überzeugen sollte. 

 

Ergebnis wurde der Jordan 3 Black Cement und MJ war sofort überzeugt. Mit diesem Schuh hatte MJ in der Saison 87/88 unfassbare Erfolge wie Allstar Game MVP, Dunk Champ, Scoring Champ, Defense Player of the Year........

Der Erfolg des Schuhs war auch die Geburt von Tinker Hatfield als Chef Designer und Schuh-Gott.
