Origin story:

The Nike Air Max 1 SP "Mellow" is a collaboration between Nike and Boston sneaker store Concepts. The design of the shoe is inspired by the colors and patterns of the 70's, specifically by the hippie culture and the art of Peter Max.

The idea for the shoe came from Concepts Creative Director Deon Point. He wanted to design a shoe that was reminiscent of 70's culture but also modern and wearable. He and his team started creating mood boards to collect different colors and patterns from that era. They finally settled on a combination of a soft pink, blue and yellow to represent the 'mellow' (relaxed) vibe of the '70s.

The shoe's upper is made of suede and leather in shades of pink, blue, and yellow. The material is printed with different patterns and textures, including flowers and psychedelic patterns. The midsole is white with a translucent Air-Sole unit in the heel to maintain the Air Max 1's classic look. The outsole is rubberized and offers good traction.

The Nike Air Max 1 SP 'Mellow' was released on May 19, 2018. The shoe was part of a larger collaboration between Nike and Concepts that also included apparel and other footwear.
